SMS Consent Policy

Employee SMS Consent Policy

  1. Purpose

INTER-OP uses SMS text messaging to deliver timely information to employees. Employees are enrolled during the onboarding process if they voluntarily provide their mobile phone number.  Employees are informed that SMS messages will be used for employment-related communications before SMS notifications are enabled. This policy outlines how we collect consent, what we send, and how you can opt out.

  1. Scope

This policy applies to all full-time, part-time, and contract employees who choose to receive mobile communications from the company.

  1. Types of Communications

Text messaging is reserved for operational and urgent workplace updates. These include:

  • Emergency notifications and safety alerts
  • Severe weather closures or office delays
  • Schedule changes and open shift reminders
  • Critical HR deadlines (e.g., benefits enrollment)

  1. Obtaining Express Consent

INTER-OP will never send automated text messages without your explicit permission. You can provide consent by:

  • Adjusting your communication preferences inside the employee portal during or after onboarding.

Note: Enrolling in SMS communications is entirely voluntary. Refusing to opt in will not affect your employment status.

  1. Message Frequency and Costs
  • Frequency: Message frequency varies based on your role and company events. We typically limit non-emergency texts to [e.g., 2–4 messages per month].
  • Costs: INTER-OP does not charge for text alerts. However, standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply.

  1. Privacy and Data Security

Your mobile number will only be used for internal company communications. INTER-OP will never sell, rent, or share your phone number with outside vendors or third parties for marketing purposes.

  1. How to Opt Out

You can revoke your consent to receive SMS messages at any time.

  • To opt out: Reply “STOP” to any text message you receive from us.
  • Confirmation: You will receive one final text confirming you have been unsubscribed.
  • Alternative Communication: Once opted out, you will receive these updates via [e.g., company email / employee portal] instead.
